Long driveways and detached garages on Engadine blocks mean longer cable runs. We plan the route and size the cable properly.
EV Charger Installation Engadine: what we typically find
Engadine homes often have carports or detached garages, meaning longer cable runs.
We plan routes and check capacity.
How the job works in Engadine
We'll explain the cable route before starting.
The installation process is straightforward: capacity check, charger location, dedicated cable run, protection at the board, mounting and commissioning. Where a detached garage sits at the back of a sloping block, the cable may need to run underground. We'll explain whether trenching is needed and how the cable will be protected.
Engadine's 1960s and 70s homes often still have original switchboards. Adding a 7 kW charger to a board without spare capacity or modern protection isn't a good idea, so the board may need upgrading first.
If you're charging overnight, consider when your electricity tariff is cheapest. Many chargers can be scheduled to start at a set time, and we'll show you how to set this up during commissioning.
Carports are common on Engadine's sloping blocks. A charger mounted on a carport post needs suitable weather protection and a properly supported cable route, and we'll explain the options.
If your home is in a bushfire-prone area, keep the charger area clear of leaves and debris, and check the charger and cable regularly for damage.

About Engadine
Storms and falling branches are a fact of life in Engadine. After a storm we see damaged service lines, water in roof spaces and outdoor lights, and lightning-related faults. We make the home safe and, where the service line itself is damaged, explain what needs to happen with the network.

EV Chargers in Engadine: FAQs
Can the charger go in a detached garage?
Yes, with a correctly sized cable.
Can my charger use my solar?
Many can, depending on the charger and inverter. Tell us your models and we'll explain the options.
Do I need three-phase power?
No. A single-phase 7 kW charger suits most people. Three-phase helps if you already have it.
