Many Cronulla unit boards are original. We upgrade them inside the unit and coordinate with strata when meter-room access is needed.
Switchboard Upgrade Cronulla: what we typically find
In Cronulla apartments, the unit board is often inside the entry or a cupboard, and the meter is in a common room downstairs. In houses near the beach, meter boxes on exterior walls can be corroded.
We replace the board, add safety switches and test every circuit.
How the job works in Cronulla
Most upgrades take a day, finishing with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
In beachside houses, meter boxes on exterior walls can be corroded. Where the enclosure is damaged, we'll recommend replacing it along with the board, so the new equipment is properly protected from the weather.
For apartments, the work is usually limited to your unit board, and we'll coordinate with building management if access to the meter room is needed.
Upgrading also makes it easier to add solar, an EV charger or air conditioning later, as the new board will have space for extra circuits.

About Cronulla
Unit blocks from the 1960s and 70s near North Cronulla, South Cronulla and the Esplanade make up a large share of our Cronulla work. Their switchboards are often original and short on safety switches, and their outdoor fittings take a beating from the salt air. We do a lot of switchboard upgrades, safety switch installations and corrosion-related fault finding here.

Switchboard Upgrades in Cronulla: FAQs
Does strata need to approve a unit board upgrade?
Usually not if it's within your lot, but check your by-laws.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade before adding a granny flat?
Often, yes. A granny flat needs its own sub-board fed from the main board, and older boards may not have the capacity or space. We'll check before you commit.
Will I be without power all day?
Usually only for part of the day. We'll tell you the shutdown window in advance.
