Engadine's extended family homes often run more circuits than the original board was built for. We redesign the board with room to spare.
Switchboard Upgrade Engadine: what we typically find
Engadine's 1960s and 70s homes often have original fuse boards. Some meter boxes have older materials, so we check before work begins.
We replace the board, add protection and test every circuit.
How the job works in Engadine
You'll get a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work at the end.
The day of the upgrade follows a set sequence: isolate the supply, remove the old board, fit the new enclosure, reconnect each circuit through new protection, test, label and restore power. The job finishes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work for your records.
In bush-surrounded homes, outdoor circuits feeding sheds, pumps and garden lighting are often the ones that fail testing. We'll explain any issues and quote separately for repairs.
If your home has solar, the new board will include correctly labelled solar isolation.
Signs your board needs upgrading include ceramic fuses, frequent tripping, a warm or crackling board, scorch marks, or no safety switches. If you notice any of these, call us for an inspection.

About Engadine
Storms and falling branches are a fact of life in Engadine. After a storm we see damaged service lines, water in roof spaces and outdoor lights, and lightning-related faults. We make the home safe and, where the service line itself is damaged, explain what needs to happen with the network.

Switchboard Upgrades in Engadine: FAQs
Is my meter panel asbestos?
Some older panels may contain asbestos; we'll check and take precautions.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade before adding a granny flat?
Often, yes. A granny flat needs its own sub-board fed from the main board, and older boards may not have the capacity or space. We'll check before you commit.
Will I be without power all day?
Usually only for part of the day. We'll tell you the shutdown window in advance.
