Miranda's 1950s to 70s homes often have boards that can't handle pools and ducted air. A new board with safety switches on every circuit fixes the tripping and the risk.
Switchboard Upgrade Miranda: what we typically find
Miranda's post-war homes often still have original fuse boards with no safety switches. Upgrading usually comes before adding air conditioning or an extension.
We test circuits first, then replace the board.
How the job works in Miranda
You'll receive a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work once finished.
On the day of the upgrade, we isolate the power, replace the board, reconnect and test every circuit, then restore power.
Extensions are common in Miranda, and some have their own sub-board. We'll decide with you whether to keep a properly fed sub-board or consolidate everything into one board.
Older homes may also have an off-peak hot water circuit and a separate meter. We'll keep that arrangement unless you want to change it.
Signs your board needs upgrading include ceramic fuses, frequent tripping, a warm or crackling board, or no safety switches at all.

About Miranda
Away from Westfield and the Kingsway, Miranda is mostly family homes from the 1950s to the 70s, plus newer duplexes and townhouses. Many older homes have an original or partly upgraded switchboard, and adding air conditioning or a pool usually means it needs replacing. Switchboard upgrades, extra power points and LED lighting upgrades are our most common Miranda jobs.

Switchboard Upgrades in Miranda: FAQs
Will I need rewiring too?
Only if circuits fail testing.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade before adding a granny flat?
Often, yes. A granny flat needs its own sub-board fed from the main board, and older boards may not have the capacity or space. We'll check before you commit.
Will I be without power all day?
Usually only for part of the day. We'll tell you the shutdown window in advance.
